As of January 1, 2020, employers are required to train every employee each calendar year. By December 31, 2020, employers must have trained all their employees.

Yes, IDHR will develop a model of sexual harassment prevention training. It will be available for download online free of cost in March 2020.

Yes, all employees regardless of their status (i.e. short-term, part-time, or intern) must be trained.

Employees Harassment Prevention
Businesses with 5 or more employees in California are required to conduct harassment prevention training every two years (SB1343). One hour of training is required of all employees. UPDATE! SB 778 was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on August 30, 2019. This measure goes into effect immediately and pushes out the deadline for firms with five or more workers to conduct anti-harassment training from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021. Covered companies who gave anti-harassment training in 2019 can wait until 2021 to conduct refresher training under the new law.
